Satire V Fake, Maddow V Hannity, Brains V Gone

There’s no indication that Fox News is tacking back toward sanity. A Laura Ingraham slot on primetime represents another doubling down on their conservative suckage. She’s the only Foxeteer arguably right of Hannity. Nothing should be right of Hannity, well, unless it has a shaved head and a Thor’s hammer tat. Don’t you realize if you make your viewers any less insightful they’re going to need 24-hour supervision? Oh, you’re already providing them that. Touche’. So it’s skewed Pew polls during the week and skewed church pews on Sunday. Skew Skewitt? It’s the perfect crime …against humanity. Meanwhile, today’s conservatism represents a pile of cultural, spiritual, and economic garbage. But please don’t tell your Republican friends that our taxes go toward garbage removal, or we’ll never be rid of them.

Now we have Sean Hannity moving into Rachel Maddow’s time slot. King Kong v Godzilla. I have mixed feelings about the growing success of MSNBC. Whereas it doesn’t outright lie the way Fox does, they’re guilt-by-omission is disturbing. Still, the truth is not going to win elections. Look what’s happened. My advice remains this: it is everyone’s duty to call out a conservative lie, every time. Don’t placate Republican ignorance. By definition if you are a Republican, you come with a load of baggage and beliefs that have little relevance to this dimensional plane of existence. The liberal media needs to start drilling this into the electorate’s heads. We must attack their lies as vehemently as they attack the truth.

It has been said a lie is halfway around the block before the truth puts on its pants. This is true in social media as well. The “real” media on the right is a collection of alt-right, bigoted propaganda that is now propelled further by Russian bots. It is much harder to pass off garbage as news in the progressive social media, as I have discovered here at the Discord *cough*. Complete rightwing crapola easily flies across the blogosphere with the greatest of tweets. Republicans want to believe anything that supports their sick and roger-ailing ideology (RAD). Republican Attachment Disorder?  Republicans vet nothing and no one, just look no further than the 45th president of the United States.

Hillary Clinton lost because anything negative about her was shared and reshared ad infinitum, regardless of its merit. Per Waldman, NPR interviewed a dude last week who makes money off conservative click bait. He passes around fake news stories that sound real, e.g., Colordians Using Food Stamps to Buy Pot! Such gems have apparently made him a gold mine by striking a nerve with the Fox Nation. This anonymous fake newser also told NPR:

“We’ve tried to do similar things to liberals, it just has never worked, it never takes off. You’ll get debunked within the first two comments and then the whole thing just kind of fizzles out.”

I agree. Post Trump, I frequent a number of FB Trump hate groups. A good percentage of lefties catch onto the joke, the source, and the problem. So you may get a share, but you’re not getting a re-share. There is no such valve or filter among Trumpsters. So it’s essentially free and endless advertising for falsehoods. We never play that game here at the Discord. This is a satire blog, sprinkled delicately with insight. From time to time. though, some things do get confused even in the liberal lands. Our latest example:

DeVos Seeks To Pullout College Rape Laws To Protect: ‘Playful Rough-Hazing’, ‘Pussy Grabbing’ and ‘Just The Tip.’

Who the hell can’t immediately identify a headline like that as satire? Legalizing ‘just the tip?’ Sure it’s my utopia, but it wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of balls. Even in this, one of my worst liberal hate-thread examples, someone rightly identified this article as satire. Amen. Meanwhile, Republicans fundamentally don’t seem capable of grasping such subtleties. It’s why they thought Steven Colbert was a Republican …for years. I’m not kidding. That’s how he was invited to the 2006 correspondents dinner. “The audience, filled in large part with media lackeys, sat smoldering in outraged humiliation.” Yeah, it was great to see. Colbert was playing a Fox anchor on his show The Colbert Report and, like everything else, it took Republicans years to figure out that they were the butt of the joke.

We liberals can’t exactly fight fire with fire, which has always been the problem. Lies can not be bested by more lies, which does put liberals at a terrible disadvantage. Being intelligent enough to identify bullshit has availed us nothing. Currently 35% of our population is impervious to the truth. I don’t know how to fix that stunning fact, but I always predicted it would be our undoing. Most on the left have found no answer for the main culprits, namely: Fox News, AM radio, Drudge, Breitbart, Infowars etc. Case in point, we lost the Benghazi debate and it wasn’t even a debate. In fact, Trey Dowdy recently admitted nothing could have saved those four men.

The sad fact is this: while Fox News’ Brett Baier was telling his viewers during early voting how a Comey indictment of the Clinton Foundation was ‘Likely’, Hillary was still putting on her pant suit.

“Claimed steadfastly, ignorance becomes as acceptable as the truth.”
